Mission statement

Gunnersbury Catholic School strives to educate all its pupils within an environment where the Catholic traditions of learning, truth, justice, respect and community are promoted.”

So as to realise our mission, Gunnersbury works towards three aims:

  • to build a community based on Christian values.
  • to maximise the potential of each individual within the school in academic, personal, physical, social and spiritual terms.
  • to produce young men and, in the Sixth Form, young women who will take those values beyond school to promote a better, more just society.

We seek to achieve these aims by:

  • demonstrating fairness and justice in all school systems.
  •  promoting relationships based upon respect, tolerance and understanding throughout the school.
  •  creating a partnership in learning which identifies and develops the talents of each individual.
  •  learning, living and celebrating our Catholic tradition.

Every Catholic school has a mission statement that encapsulates its distinctive job or core purpose.  The mission statement puts faith at the heart of all we do at school and incorporates our school motto.  It speaks of inclusivity and respect, that we understand as important Gospel values.  It reminds us that Christ is at that centre of all that we do and by extension, as his creations we are all obligated to treat every member of our community with respect and love. It speaks of our aspirations for all in our community and our will to do all we can to make these a reality.

What does this mean?

At Gunnersbury Catholic School we aim to provide an education that is not just about academic achievement, but also about helping students grow in a well-rounded way—spiritually, morally, and socially—based on Catholic values.

All of these values are based on the Gospel and centre on the teachings of Jesus.

We live in a manner that respects and promotes our Catholic values, we will reach our God given potential and be a positive influence in the lives of those around us.
