University

Gunnersbury has an enviable reputation for student outcomes, built upon many years of experience and success.

Our Sixth Form students consistently secure places on the most competitive university courses, with the vast majority gaining entry to their first-choice university and course. The breadth of destinations reflects the wide-ranging interests and exceptional talents of our students — from top institutions in London such as Imperial College and UCL, to prestigious Russell Group universities across the UK and Northern Ireland.

We are equally proud of our students who choose to pursue their studies internationally, with pupils taking up places at leading universities in the USA and across Europe. In addition, a number of our leavers embark on exciting degree apprenticeships, with recent placements at world-renowned organisations including Airbus and Amazon.

Central to this success is the high-quality advice and personalised support we provide. As admissions processes become increasingly complex, our expert guidance ensures that students make informed decisions about their futures and are well-prepared to achieve their ambitions. Popular university entries continue to include engineering, law, business, and the sciences, alongside an ever-growing variety of specialist fields.

In 2025, the majority of our students have continued their studies at a Russell Group university.   In terms of what Gunnersbury students have decided to read at university, the 2025 cohort have begun their undergraduate studies in the following subjects :

Science and Medicine : 29%

Maths and Engineering : 17%

Arts and humanities : 13%

Social sciences and law : 10%

Business and economics : 30%

From the Spring Term in Year 12, students are supported throughout their UCAS applications, with a great deal of time and care being placed upon creating robust, personalised applications. Dedicated UCAS support continues in the summer term and enables students to make informed and realistic choices in their applications to university and to receive further information on apprenticeships.

The London Universities annual taster programme and apprenticeship programme is well supported and Year 12 students across all disciplines are able to experience university life, prior to submitting an application. Weekly assemblies seek to deliver important messages and lines of inspiration in respect of life after Gunnersbury and these are very much appreciated by our senior students.  Each year, over 90% of our graduating senior students are successful in securing their chosen university place. We have an enviable recordin ensuring all who aspire to the very best undergraduate courses at the top universities across the UK, and beyond, achieve their goal.
