In fact, in the Telegraph’s consideration of all forms of schools (including grammar, girls and mixed) we have been placed as number 17 out of 3500 schools!  Such recognition is truly merited and a testament to our amazing community of students, staff and families striving together to fully realise the potential of each individual studying at Gunnersbury Catholic School.

This summer; once again, Gunnersbury’s A Level and GCSE results were the highest in the borough and locality.  Their incredible results have enabled this cohort of Year 13 students to join our alumni at the very best universities, studying the most competitive of courses – including a record 5 of our students achieving a place at medical schools to study medicine.  In their GCSEs, Gunnersbury pupils attained to a level far beyond both local and national with 93% of the cohort securing both English and Mathematics GCSE.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the achievements of our Year 11 students today. The nerves, tension and apprehension could be clearly seen on their faces as they tentatively opened the envelopes to see the grades they had been awarded. 

Their hard work, determination, and commitment have truly paid off, with results that reflect both individual excellence and the support of their teachers and parents.

An impressive 46% of students achieved grades 9-7, a testament to their academic excellence and the dedication of our teaching staff. These top grades reflect the high standards our students have set for themselves. Even more impressively, 91% of students achieved five or more GCSEs including English and Maths. 

Undoubtedly; their outstanding application in lessons, at home and throughout the exam period; brilliantly supported by their teachers and parents; was worthwhile!  Our Year 11s now have doors to very exciting futures, opened very wide indeed.

Number 1 school in the borough for A'Level students achieving the highest grades!

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the achievements of our students in this year’s A’ Level and BTEC examinations. Their hard work, resilience, and determination have once again produced exceptional outcomes.

Our A’ Level students have achieved remarkable results, with 34% of all grades awarded at A or A*, and 87% at A-C*. An amazing 5 of our students are going to study at medical school.  These outcomes reflect both the dedication of our students and the high-quality teaching and support they have received.

Our BTEC students have also achieved outstanding outcomes, with a phenomenal 98% of grades awarded at Distinction or Distinction*. This is a testament to their commitment over the last two years to their studies.

These results open doors to top universities including UCL, Bath, Exeter, Leeds, Royal Holloway, Queen Mary, Newcastle and Reading to study a range of subjects including Medicine, Law, Maths, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Business, Economics, Computer Science etc.  In addition, some students have gone on to apprenticeships in Law, Business and Computing; we are excited to see what the future holds for each of them.

Autumn Term Newsletter 2024

Very quickly the sounds of laughter, cheers and excitement were filling the school as our Year 11 celebrated the fantastic results they truly deserved! We were ecstatic for all our students who have achieved yet again a set of amazing results. 

Gunnersbury boys have surpassed national expectations and achieved phenomenal results.  An impressive 45% of students achieved grades 9-7.  In addition, 81% of our students achieved 5 or more GCSEs including English and Maths and 90% achieved 4 or more GCSEs including English and Maths

The Year 11s of 2024 have worked hard throughout the last two years to ensure the superb outcomes today. Undoubtedly; their outstanding application in lessons, at home and throughout the exam period; brilliantly supported by their teachers and parents; was worthwhile!  Our Year 11s now have doors to very exciting futures, opened very wide indeed.

From the moment that we opened our gates, to welcome our Year 13s back for one last time, the morning was bursting with joy.  Students eagerly made their way to collect their envelope as parents waited anxiously for their son/daughter to collect their much-awaited results!  Unbridled joy was the overwhelming emotion as these young women and men shared their outstanding achievements with family and friends. 

Our continued success was evident with a phenomenal 40% of grades at A’Level A*/A; and 68% A*-B grades, 94% of BTEC students achieved Distinction/D* - results that once again place Gunnersbury amongst the leading schools in the country!

Students are now moving on to world-leading universities including: Imperial College London, Kings’ College London, Warwick, UCL, Bristol, Exeter, Manchester, Nottingham.  They will be embarking upon a vast a range of subjects such as: Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, History and Philosophy, Accounting and Finance, Economics, PPE.

We are incredibly proud of all our Year 11 students who yet again have shown that hard work, teacher support and of course the love and care of their families are a winning combination.  Our students are now able to embark onto their next stage of education and to the fantastic opportunities these grades have provided.  Many congratulations to our Year 11 students!

As we opened the school gates this morning, we were exceptionally excited to greet our Year 13 students and eagerly awaited them opening their envelopes.  It was a joy and a privilege to be able to celebrate their successes and share their achievements with family and friends. 

Our 2023 cohort have continued our rich vein of excellence at A-Level and BTEC.  Their success included: 100% pass rate; 23% A*/A grades at A’Level; 95% Distinction*/Distinction within BTEC.  These Year 13s will be joining alumni at universities that are amongst the very best in the world including: Imperial College London, Kings’ College London, Warwick, UCL, Bristol, Exeter and Nottingham to name a mere few. We proudly observe that these young women and men have deservedly attained the very highest.  Ad Altiora!

The Year 11s of 2022 have worked hard throughout the last two years to ensure they were successful today and the consistent work in lessons, at home and through the exam period; supported by teachers and parents was worthwhile.  Our Year 11s now have doors wide open on their very exciting futures. 

Over the last 4 days our bronze students, divided into two groups,  have completed the practise expedition which included an overnight  in a tent as well as cooking and walking skills.  

Although the weather was not brilliant it failed to dampen the spirits of our explorers who had a fantastic time and are now fully prepared for the assessed expedition after half term!

Our Year 7s enjoyed the early May bank holiday at the centre in the Isle of Wight and Year 8 spent a long weekend there last week under the care and support of our Gunnersbury staff.

All the boys took part in a range of activities including Laser Tag, Leap Of Faith, 3G Swing and Nightline along with the Obstacle Challenge.

Each evening they had an activity that included Movie Night, Quizzes and Mini Olympics.

Although sad to leave they had enjoyed a trip, made some new friends and certainly slept soundly on the coach back to school!

In addition we are very proud of all our boys who competed in the ‘Active Row West Indoor Rowing’ competition with both the Year 7/8 and Year 9/10 team winning silver and bronze.  We are looking forward to further sporting successes in the new term.

This year at Gunnersbury Catholic School, our pupils have continued to achieve the very highest at GCSE and A Level. On Tuesday 10^th August, we had the opportunity to celebrate the fantastic results with our former Year 13 students, many of whom are now set to study Medicine, Law, PPE and other prestigious courses at highly respected universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, King's College London and Imperial.
