STEM Club

As a Science Specialist School, our Science, Technology and Engineering (STEM) Club is one of the most popular after school activities.  The aims of the club are very straight forward : to support learning and stimulate an interest in the STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and maths) by enabling boys to take their love of these subjects outside of the classroom, offering fun and interactive experiments and activities.

Recent gatherings of the club have included pupils researching the science behind some of the advances being made in car technology, supported by engineers from Volkswagen and BMW who were invited into school (along with some very flashy cars !) to discuss hybrid and electric technologies with the boys; a ‘light graffiti’ workshop presented by the University of Surrey, where boys learned about how coloured LED lights could create light drawings and animations through an innovative camera technique to produce vibrant pieces of art; a visit to the London Transport Museum, where boys saw at first hand an original route-master bus and examined its (still functioning) intricate engine, as well as having an opportunity to experience a Red Arrow flight simulator.
