National Tutoring and Academic Mentors 2022-23

Our school is committed to providing high quality support in English and Maths.  Following the national lockdowns we have made excellent use of the National Tutoring Programme and Academic Mentors.   Our strategy is to support our pupils with their education recovery, notably in targeted support.

Our approach is to be responsive to common challenges and individual needs, rooted in robust diagnostic assessment, not assumptions about the impact of disadvantage. The approaches we have adopted complement each other to help pupils excel.

Both strategies support students in Year 7-11 in English and Maths within small groups. The National Tutoring Programme is groups of no more than 3 students.  These focused groups allow individualised targets and guidance.  Our academic mentors take small groups for after school support as well as targeted subject support within the school timetable.  These pupils are reviewed half-termly to allow as many students as possible to have access to high quality support in literacy and numeracy.
