Praise indeed for the school's Jazz Band
Mr Hui, our Director of Music, reports on a remarkable seal of approval for our Jazz enthusiasts : 'a routine performance at the International School of London (ISL) turned out to be a remarkable day for members of the school's Jazz Band. Following the success of our previous performance at ISL, Mr Marshall organised another lunch time performance in front of a captive audience of ISL students
and staff. One this occasion, our 12-piece band welcomed three ISL into the mix, playing popuar standards from 'Watermelon Man' to 'Tequila.' After the performance, amidst the enthusiastic applause as our audience dispersed, an excited member of ISL staff held up her mobile phone and insisted that her friend speak with the band. It only dawned on us, as the phone made its way around the band members that the 'friend' was none other than Mr Darius Brubeck, son of the late jazz legend, Dave Brubeck ! To have such a distinguished jazz musician congratulate our rendition of his father's classic 'Take Five' was a privilege indeed, and a moment our Jazz Band musicians will no doubt treasure for many years.
