Praise from government minister

Gunnersbury hailed by government minister for outstanding GCSE results
Our boys received ‘outstanding’ GCSE results last summer, and the school has now been congratulated by David Laws MP, the Minister of State for Schools. A letter to the headteacher from Mr Laws said the school was one of the top 100 performing non-selective state funded schools in England. In his letter, Mr Laws said: ‘Gunnersbury Catholic School is clearly equipping its pupils for success in both further study and future employment. The percentage of your pupils achieving 5 or more A* to C grade GCSEs, including English and Maths, shows that Gunnersbury is one of the top 100 performing non-selective state funded schools in England. The results are a shining testament to the hard work and success of your staff, governors and pupils. I would like to offer my thanks to you and all at your school for your pursuit of the highest standards of educational achievement.’
Headteacher Mr Burke said he was ‘delighted’ with the accolade, adding that he was ‘thrilled to read the letter and pleased to be able to pass on what it said to all of our parents, staff and pupils.’
This recognition is a ‘great credit’ to the spirit of the school and our sustained improvement is down to the challenging expectations, pastoral care and passionate teaching at Gunnersbury. Mr Burke added : ‘we are very proud of the team effort, the enormous support from our parents and the hard work put in by our boys.’
