Eton Engineering Challenge

Second win in succession at Eton

Gunnersbury were again invited to participate in the Eton College Design Challenge and, for the second year in succession, we took home first prize.  The annual challenge was held on the beautiful grounds of Eton College and involved groups from 24 schools across West London, Surrey and Berkshire.  Each team was made up of students from different schools and the challenge, inspired by the 2012 Paralympics Games, was to design a device that could propel a ball through a small basketball hoop, and then return the ball to the starting position. Our boys produced some very imaginative and effective outcomes and a great time was had by all.  The contributions made by all of our boys, in terms of design and construction, were significant and all were a credit to the school.

Particular praise goes to Year 9 pupil Alex Harnett (St Catherine RC Primary, West Drayton) for his fabulous design which secured first place for Gunnersbury.  Well done Alex !
